Tony Pulis is proving, once again, that slumps in results don’t last too long for his teams and back-to-back victories have lifted Albion into 12th place with 26 points, their second highest Premier League position and points total at this stage of the season.
Despite the criticism he gets from me and others about his style of play and use of the squad, you cannot argue with Pulis’s results over time. Although appointed, he did not take charge of the match against West Ham on New Year’s Day 2015, so it is only now that he has completed a full 38 Premier League games in charge and under his management, Albion have amassed 52 points – I think we’d all take that come the end of the season, but for how long will the Albion faithful take points over entertainment?
Albion’s record in January in the Premier League is not great having won just eight of 36 January fixtures so far, and only once have Albion won game 21 in a Premier League season – that was Tony Pulis’s first league game in charge against Hull City last season.
Incidentally, Albion have never won more than one game in January in a Premier League season.
