As I said in my article on Saturday, Pulis normally gets a result when he needs one. He definitely needed one against Leicester and Phillips’ winner provided it.
Albion went for the win from the off and fully deserved their victory, although after a goalless first half against a poor Leicester side, I did wonder whether their chance had gone. The hosts did improve after the break, but the Baggies still merited the three points.
Albion may be a point worse off than last season at the same stage, they are five points better off when compared to the equivalent fixtures from the last campaign.
They will return after the international break to face Burnley in another televised fixture on a Monday evening – had Albion lost on Sunday, we could’ve been looking at a new low Premier League attendance at the Hawthorns, but victory over the reigning champions should raise expectations of recording successive league victories for the first time since January.
