A second successive draw for Albion but it was somewhat more exciting than the goalless draw at Ashton Gate at the weekend. The point leaves the Baggies in 15th place, still level on points with the night’s opponents, Watford.
Other than last season, this campaign’s tally of nine points from seven games is the lowest in the second tier by an Albion side since 1994, the season that would see Keith Burkinshaw sacked in mid-October.
The eighth game of a second tier season has produced some good results for the Baggies in recent seasons including a 5-1 win over QPR in 2007, a 5-0 win at Boro’ in 2008 and 4-2 wins in 2018 and 2019 over Bristol City and Huddersfield Town. Albion haven’t lost the eighth game of a second tier season since the recently relocated Wimbledon recorded a shock 1-0 win at the Hawthorns in 2001.
