Albion earned their first clean sheet of the campaign at Ashton Gate and came away with a point that could easily have been three. It is their first goalless draw since the match against Millwall on 1st April, and only their second clean sheet since then. The draw does mean that no Albion side has lost game 6 of a second tier campaign since 1998, winning six and drawing six in the twelve such seasons since then.
It is also the first time that Albion have failed to score since the 2-0 defeat at Bramall Lane in late April, which is also the only match they have failed to trouble the scorers since that 0-0 draw with Millwall. It is the eighth time in the Corberán’s forty games that the Baggies haven’t found the net – they have scored 57 goals in total in that period.
Only twice since 1997 have the Baggies had fewer than this season’s eight points from six games – last season, they had only seven, the same total as in Gary Megson’s first full season in charge in 2000/2001.
