A hard fought draw kept the Baggies in fifth place and four points clear of seventh with 56 points from 34 games. Carlos Corberán’s team have eight more points than at the same stage last season and just two points fewer than Tony Mowbray’s title winning team from 2008.
Game 35 has been successful for Albion in recent seasons, losing only once in the last nine campaigns – each of the seven victories in game 35 have been to nil with the biggest coming in 2002. Gary Megson’s team was rarely free-scoring, but they battered Portsmouth 5-0 in February 2002 with Jason Roberts scoring twice along with Larus Sigurðsson, Scott Dobie and Igor Bališ. Two years later, the opponents in game 35 were the same as this season, Coventry City, and they were beaten 3-0 thanks to goals from Lee Hughes, Rob Hulse and Mark Kinsella’s only goal for the Baggies.
