The last time Albion won five games in a row, they were top of the Championship and flying under Slaven Bilić. They actually won six games in a row from 4th November to 8th December 2019, a run that was ended when the Croat opted to rest his two star players in Pereira and Diangana for the trip to Cardiff and the Baggies could only manage a draw.
It leaves the Baggies in 16th place but just five points off the top six with a game in hand. That will be played this week at Coventry City, and if they can match Bilić’s team’s six-in-a-row, Carlos Corberán’s side will move into eighth place.
Albion were bottom of the table at the end of October – anyone who would have suggested that Albion could be in eighth place by Christmas would have been rightly ridiculed, and yet it could happen.
