It moves Corberán’s team onto 35 points which is three points behind two of Albion’s promotion teams this century, with Megson’s 2001 team and Mowbray’s 2007 team having reached 38 points from their first 21 games. It is some way behind the 46 points that Slaven Bilić’s team had amassed in 2019. Roberto di Matteo’s side, who hold the record points tally for a season by an Albion side with 91, had 39 points at the same stage.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Albion have won game 22 in each of their last six second tier seasons, and they haven’t lost at the same stage since Neil Warnock’s Sheffield United won 1-0 at the Hawthorns in December 2001.
