A fourth successive victory for Carlos Corberán’s team lefts them up to 17th place in the table on 26 points from 21 games which is a better tally than any of Albion’s second tier teams between 1989 and 1997. It is the first time that the Baggies have won four successive league games for two years, with the previous occasion being the run of six wins on the trot in November and December 2019 under Slaven Bilić.
The goalscorers, substitutes Tom Rogić and Daryl Dike, were both on the mark for the first time in a competitive game for Albion. The last time that two players opened their goalscoring accounts for the Baggies in the same match was when Kieran Gibbs and Dwight Gayle both scored their first goals in the 7-1 win over QPR in August 2018.
Looking ahead to the next game, Albion haven’t lost their 22nd match of a second tier season since 2001/02 when Neil Warnock’s Sheffield United won 1-0 at the Hawthorns – the Baggies have won game 22 in six out the last seven second tier campaigns.
