Victory over Hull City made it three wins in a row for the Baggies for the first time since the three games immediately after Christmas last year. The result keeps Carlos Corberán’s team in fifth place sone nine points off second-placed Ipswich Town.
It’s the third time that the Baggies have had 26 points from 15 games in the comparison period. Back in 1988, a 3-2 home win over Oxford United in game 15 saw Brian Talbot’s team rise to 2nd place in the table with 26 points, three points behind leaders Watford. In 2006, Tony Mowbray’s fourth game in charge of Albion ended in a 3-3 home draw with QPR leaving them in 5th place with 26 points, six points behind leaders Cardiff City.
Looking ahead to the next match, only one of the last seven second tier seasons has game 16 been at home for the Baggies, and Hull City have been the opponents on three occasions. The Baggies won three of the six away games, at Hull in 2019, Leicester in 2009 and Coventry in 2008, and they will be looking to repeat that result at Southampton next weekend.
