A goalless draw with Luton extends Albion’s winless run to nine games in all competitions and keeps the Baggies in the bottom three some ten points away from the top six. It proved to be Steve Bruce’s last game in charge.
In 1994, Albion’s only second tier campaign that started worse than this season, game 13 was Alan Buckley’s first in charge of the club and was a 2-0 defeat at Barnsley which left the Baggies in 23rd place with just 10 points.
Albion have drawn eight of their opening thirteen games only once before, in 1999/2000 when Brian Little’s team were unbeaten in their first nine games but drew seven of them. Game 13 saw Albion record a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace thanks to goals from Sean Flynn and Enzo Maresca to put them 14th in the table with 17 points.
