Albion’s Second Tier Season Comparison – 10 games

A stoppage time equaliser for Oxford United means that the Baggies winless run extends to four games but they remain in the top six and only three points off top spot ahead of Sunday’s game. In fairness to their hosts, they probably deserved a point on the balance of the game, but had Albion been a little more clinical, the game would have been out of sight before a loss of concentration at the back led to the late goal.

Albion have never gone longer than four league games without a victory under Carlos Corberán and, on both of the previous two occasions, three of the four ended in draws making this current run of results the worse of the Spaniard’s tenure. The last time the Baggies went four without a win was in the early stages of last season and it was ended with a convincing win in Lancashire – last October, it was a 4-0 win at Preston North End and Albion travel to Blackburn on Wednesday evening.

With Karlan Grant scoring the goal at the Kassam, he remains the only Albion player to score in the Championship this season who’s surname doesn’t begin with ‘M’. The other three Albion players to score this season have a surname beginning with ‘F’ – Mo Faal in the League Cup defeat at Fleetwood, Tom Fellows for the England U21s and Darnell Furlong with an own goal at Hillsborough!
