Thirteen points from seven games has only been bettered by the successful promotion teams managed by Megson in 2003 and Di Matteo in 2009, and the omens are good in that the other two Albion sides to have matched it were both promoted automatically.
The Baggies are now the only unbeaten side in the Championship and one of only six in the top four divisions, another being Darren Moore’s Doncaster Rovers.
Big Dave’s Albion are the only one to have conceded more league goals at this stage of a promotion campaign with Bilić’s team still looking for their first clean sheet of the season.
Game 8 has been a good fixture for the Baggies in recent years with them scoring fourteen goals in their eighth match in the last three promotion campaigns.
