A third successive 2-0 defeat leaves Albion’s promotion challenge in the balance as the Baggies drop out of the top six for the first time this season.
The last time a Baggies team were this low in the second tier table other than during the opening few games of the season was in December 2006 in the early days of Tony Mowbray’s tenure. Albion haven’t been out of the top six after 30 games since the 1999/2000 season when they sat in 19th place with just 30 points from 30 games under Brian Little following a 1-0 defeat at Fulham in February 2000.
Since that season, every Baggies team in the second tier had won at least half of their first 30 games of the season – that is down to 40% this campaign and Steve Bruce has a tough job on his hands to get Albion back into contention.
