Albion made it back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season as they beat Wigan Athletic at the Hawthorns to continue their good run of form.
The 2-0 win made it eight games unbeaten and means the Baggies are four points clear of fourth-placed Sheffield United. As the day’s games entered the latter stages, it looked like Albion would make inroads into the gap to the top two, but both Norwich and Leeds managed to score twice in stoppage time and in the end, the Baggies are two points closer to the Canaries, but the Peacocks remain six points ahead of Darren Moore’s men after registering their seventh successive victory since their defeat at the Hawthorns.
Albion have never had more points at this stage of a 21st century promotion campaign having had 45 points from 24 games on two previous occasions, and both times they went on to win automatic promotion.
