The Baggies moved back to the top of the Championship table with another convincing victory, this time 5-1 over a Swansea City who were previously unbeaten on the road. It was a sixth successive victory for Slaven Bilić’s team, the first time an Albion side have achieved that since Gary Megson’s side in April 2004.
Kyle Edwards’ goal was the tenth by an Albion substitute this season, which is a remarkable illustration of how Slaven Bilić has been able to influence games by intelligent use of the bench.
This campaign’s team have five more points at this stage of the season than that 2003/04 team and the five goals against Swansea means that they are only one behind Darren Moore’s top scorers from last season.
No 21st century promotion chasing Albion team has lost game 21, and every time it has been away from home, it has resulted in a Baggies victory. A notable one was back in December 2001 when Portuguese midfielder, Jordão, scored the only goal at Molineux to keep Albion in the promotion race five points behind leaders, Burnley.
