The Baggies’ 54 year wait for a league win at Craven Cottage goes on as they went down to their biggest second tier defeat since the 4-0 defeat at Elland Road in March 2019. It is also the first time that Albion have conceded three goals in a Championship match since the final day of the 2018/19 season when they lost 3-1 at Derby County.
The defeat leaves them in third place with 28 points, a total that was good enough to lead the table in 2009 a season that ended in promotion for Roberto di Matteo’s team. However, it remains a good start to the season as only twice since 1992 has an Albion side had more points at this stage of the season – Gary Megson’s 2003 team had 31 points while Slaven Bilić’s side in the Baggies’ last promotion season had 30 points.
Game 16 sees Albion face Hull City for the third Championship season in succession. In 2018 and 2019, the fixture was in Yorkshire but this time it is at the Hawthorns with Valérien Ismaël’s team looking to maintain their unbeaten home league record.
