A controversial late penalty denied Albion the three points that would have taken them four points clear at the top of the table, and the hope is that the four points dropped this week do not prove decisive come the end of the season. Hal Robson-Kanu came off the bench once again and scored what looked like being the winner, only for Josh Cullen to level from the spot in the 94th minute.
What it does mean is that there is a high likelihood that the Baggies will have been overtaken at the top by the time they take to the field at the Bet365 Stadium in nine days time. Both Leeds United and Preston North End could move above Albion with a victory next weekend, while Bristol City could also give themselves a chance of claiming top spot as a win over Wigan Athletic tomorrow would put them to within a point of the Baggies.
Bilić’s Baggies are the only Albion team to have led the table at this stage of the season, although Megson’s 2003 side did have one more point albeit having played 8 of their 14 games at home. Only Moore’s and Mowbray’s teams had scored more goals, while only last season’s side had conceded more.
Only once have Albion lost game 15, and the last time the 15th match was away from home, they recorded a 3-0 victory at Rotherham United at Millmoor in 2001.
