Another comeback for Albion saw them earn a point in a match that proves how competitive the Championship is. It is easy to be frustrated that the Baggies didn’t take all three points against the bottom side, but it demonstrates that if you are not on your game throughout the side, it is easy to drop points in this division.
Slaven Bilić’s team retain their position on top of the Championship with the chasing pack also dropping points. When compared with Albion’s 21st century promotion campaigns, this season’s team are second in terms of points after thirteen games behind Megson’s 2003 team, although their 28 point total was only good enough for second place.
Di Matteo’s 2009 team were the only other team to be top of the table at this stage, while Tony Mowbray’s 2007 side and Darren Moore’s team from last season were the only ones to have scored more goals.
Game 14 hasn’t been good for promotion-chasing Baggies in general, although Mowbray’s 2007 team did record a statement result by beating Watford 3-0 on their own patch. In contrast, Big Dave’s team showed their vulnerability in game 14 last season losing 4-1 at home to Derby County.
