Albion’s Premier League Season Comparison – 22 games

Albion’s Premier League Tuesday hoodoo continues as they went down to a second half recovery from Sheffield United as they stay nine points from safety but having now played a game more than 17th-placed Brighton and Hove Albion.

In 2004/05, Bryan Robson’s Baggies earned a point with a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle United in game 22, so they moved on to 13 points, a point ahead of this season’s team.

The 12 points that have been earned this campaign remains more that Albion’s 1985/86 team at the same stage despite them recording only their second win of the season in game 22. On 22nd December 1985, a Steve Hunt penalty plus goals from Robbie Dennison and Imre Varadi saw the Baggies beat Watford 3-1 at the Hawthorns, the only time they scored three goals in a league match that season.

In Albion’s last Premier League campaign, game 23 saw the one and only league victory of Alan Pardew’s reign as they defeated Brighton 2-0, the only time the Baggies have won the 23rd match of a Premier League campaign.
