Another home game and another heavy defeat for the Baggies. Twelve goals conceded in three successive home games is a new unwanted club record – previous Albion sides have managed to let in eleven in three home games, the latest being Tony Mowbray’s side who lost 5-0 (Manchester United), 3-2 (Newcastle United) and 3-1 (Arsenal) between February and April 2009.
Nobby Stiles’ team was still on six points after seventeen games of the 1985/86 season, although they did add to that in game 18, a 0-0 at home to Arsenal which is more than Sam Allardyce’s side managed!
Speaking of Big Sam, the Baggies have conceded 13 goals in the four games he has taken charge of. an average of more than three goals per game – that compares with an average of two goals per game in the 13 matches under Bilić this season. So much for the defensive organisation under Allardyce, so far at least.
