Albion are currently on a nine match winless run against Fulham, with their last victory over the Cottagers coming just over 10 years ago when Youssouf Mulumbu and Marc-Antoine Fortuné scored to earn Roberto di Matteo’s team three points that lifted the Baggies into 4th place in the Premier League.
The last time that an Albion side won at Craven Cottage was five years earlier when a wonder goal from Junichi Inamoto secured Bryan Robson’s side a 3-2 win in the third round of the League Cup. Four months later, Robson took his side back to the Cottage for a Premier League fixture to see them hammered 6-1, Fulham’s record win over Albion.
For a league win for the Baggies at Fulham, we have to go back more than half a century to the final day of the 1962/63 when goals from Alec Jackson and Ronnie Fenton earned Jimmy Hagan’s Albion both points in a Division One fixture.
A barren run at the Cottage looked unlikely at that point as that was the Baggies’ tenth win in twelve matches at Fulham’s riverside home. However, the only time that Albion have won by more than one goal at Fulham’s home was a 2-0 win back in September 1909.
Only once have Fulham hosted Albion somewhere other than Craven Cottage. The clubs did not meet before they moved to the Cottage in 1896, but Fulham spent three seasons at Loftus Road while their home was being renovated and Albion made one visit in that time, losing 3-0 in a Premier League game in February 2003.
